No, it is not required to have a prior degree in Electrical Engineering to apply to our graduate program. Although, we do strongly advise that applicants have prior experience with electrical engineering research. Students with a strong academic record who hold a B.S. degree in another engineering discipline, or in mathematics, physics, applied physics, chemistry, materials science, or computer science should expect to spend at least 1-3 additional quarters of study to strengthen their background in EE fundamentals as part of their graduate program, either MS or PhD.
Students without a bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than those above may require more than a year of additional study to provide the necessary EE background and fundamentals.
