Innovation as key leadership function – how people create or destroy innovation

Abstract

We will examine a few case studies on how organizations foster innovation both within their organization and with external partners as well as examine what are the barriers that kill innovation within their teams.

Bio

Elizabeth Scallon joined Amazon in 2020 and currently leads the Go To Market & Operations for Amazon Alexa Fund & Startups. Here she is engaging startups and investors focused on ambient and immersive technologies through startup programs, business development, and technical support. Elizabeth led the launch of WeWork’s startup and incubation arm, WeWork Labs in US West and LATAM, and previous to WeWork Elizabeth led the team at CoMotion Labs at the University of Washington growing tech and biotech startups. Obsessed with growth and knowledge, Elizabeth went from a degree in Biochemistry, to Georgetown’s Global Executive MBA in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Emerging Markets. In 2019, Elizabeth was selected to join Harvard Business School’s YALP program which aims to develop leaders who understand cross-sector collaborations for shared prosperity.
