Vaishnavi Ranganathan

Bio

Vaishnavi Ranganathan is a senior researcher affiliated with the Networking Research Group and Research for Industry at Microsoft Research, Redmond. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle in 2019 with specialization in low-power battery-free sensing, wireless power transfer and implantable brain computer interface devices. Her current research interests lie in leveraging low power sensor data, energy harvesting and wireless communication to address challenges related to climate change, health and sustainability. Specifically, she has been part of Project Eclipse which analyzes impacts of urban air quality with hyperlocal sensor deployments in the city of Chicago. Dr. Ranganathan also leads the IoT and wireless sensing research as a part of collaborations with Microsoft Mixed Reality, Surface Audio and Project Food Vibes in Research for Industry which aims at reducing global food loss.
