All electrical methods of sequencing and disease detection in biomolecules is an open area of research. The advantage of such a technology would be the ability to detect with very low sample sizes, where conventional methods based on amplification are inadequate. A secondary goal of this project is to demonstrate device behavior using DNA-based heterostructures, which can form the basis for electronics based on DNA.
