Professional Master’s Program

Degree Requirements

The Professional Master’s Program requires 45 credits to graduate, comprised of both coursework credits and colloquium seminar credits.

Coursework credits (36-40 credits)

Courses are generally 4 credits. Students must complete the following:

  • EE P 502 Analytical Methods for Electrical Engineering (four credits): Strongly encouraged for new students during their first quarter in the PMP program. Students may petition to utilize a different 4 credit course towards this requirement.
  • Additional credits: 32-36 total, depending on how many colloquium seminar credits are taken.

All coursework credits must be completed with a 2.7 GPA or above. A 3.0 cumulative GPA is required for graduation.

Colloquium seminar credits (5-9 credits)

Colloquium seminars allow students to broaden their exposure to electrical engineering research. Seminars are 1-2 credits each and are graded on a Credit/No-Credit basis. This seminar does not meet in person; rather, students complete seminar requirements over the course of the quarter by submitting reviews of current or previous UW ECE colloquia or IEEE articles.
